General Modding SF4

I realized something when changing one of the files, these files go by Japanese SF naming. I tried to change Balrog and changed Vega so for future reference

US Japan

Balrog - M.Bison(BSN)
Vega - Balrog(BLR)
Bison - Vega(VEG)
Akuma - Gouki(GKI)

1:backup your files

"offzip" unzip *02.emz ------->0000010.dat

load 0000010.dat by ultraedit

find all of including characters "02.bsr" "02.emb" in the section of tail

then change them to 01.bsr,01.emb by ultraedit

and change the filename"*02*." to *01*.

after this, i will also do the same things with another ten col files (attetion!the files must be unzipped by offzip)

Yes, many thanks to fly19840303man, Pey for sharing Cammy, arayashiki01, afterdimness, and everyone else who is getting SF4 modding going! Also, if you're game is crashing when trying use an edited emz file, you might need to rename some other entry like .bsr or .emb from 02 to 01. I tried exchanging Chun Li's costumes and it kept crashing until I renamed a few other files that had 02 on them (luckily they were all at the end). Her second costume is awesome!!!

So, what's next? Character moveset swaps (Cammy with Zangief's moves)? User-made full costumes or even characters?

I gotta question about the textures. Are a few characters textures different sizes? I extracted Chun Li's alt. textures and they came out as 1024 x 1024, but extracting Guiles, they were only 512 x 512 which I thought was weird. After that they, the new textures crashed after infusing them into the .dat file. Not sure if I injected them right. Your suppose to infuse the .dds with the .dat file and it should work?
